Days between two dates, in years, months and days, weeks, and weekdays, with or without the end date.

How it works

The total is the number of calendar days from the start to the end. Years, months and days are counted forward from the start: whole years first, then whole months, then the days left over. When a month is shorter than the start day, the date is clamped, so 31 January plus one month is the end of February. Weekdays count Monday to Friday in the span.

Worked example

From Thursday 24 September 2026 to Christmas Day, 25 December 2026.

  1. 124 September to 24 December is 3 whole months

  4. 4Weekdays: 13 × 5 = 65, plus the extra Thursday = 66

92 days (3 months and 1 day), of which 66 are weekdays and 26 fall on weekends.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include the end date?

It depends on what you are counting. For a gap or an age, leave it out: from Monday to Friday is 4 days. For a period you occupy, such as a hotel stay by nights you are there, a rental or days of leave, include it and Monday to Friday becomes 5 days.

How are months counted when they have different lengths?

Months are counted from the start date's day number. 15 March to 15 April is one month whether it has 30 or 31 days. If the start day does not exist in the target month, such as 31 January to February, the last day of that month is used.

Does it count business days?

It counts weekdays, Monday to Friday. It does not remove public holidays, because they differ by country, state and employer, so subtract any holidays in your range yourself.
